Year-Round Best Mountain Towns in America

Telluride was recently referred to as one of the best mountain towns in America. We’d have to agree. There’s just something about the view of the majestic mountains at the end of the box canyon which continually draws people to visit Telluride. The charms of this idyllic Colorado mountain town don’t stop there.  With a world-class ski resort, exceptional high-end dining options, a packed summer festival season, and access to endless adventure options, you’ll likely be drawn in.

Skiing is obviously one of the big draws in town, but if you chose to skip the slopes, you can go ice skating, dog sledding, hiking, or even nordic skiing. Make sure you don’t miss the family-friendly gondola ride in the sky for the epic views alone.

Or, walk along Main Street to browse the locally-owned shops and boutiques. There aren’t any chain stores in sight — unless you’re craving Starbucks, which is located in Mountain Village. Whether you’re looking for house-furnishings at Tweed, beautiful flower arrangements at Nested, or mountain apparel at the Telluride Toggery, you’re in luck.

Crowds pour in for music festivals like the Bluegrass Festival or Blues & Brews. Your visit can be adventure-packed and dance-filled in the summer. Or, you can wait until the snow flies and enjoy the skiing or snowboarding on expert terrain, then indulge in some live music at the Sheridan Opera House.

There’s something for everyone in Telluride. Plus, free transportation is easily accessible, and the town is very walkable. A visitor can easily leave their hotel or vacation rental and explore for hours. Of course, what’s even more convenient is the number of ski-in/ski-out properties available. You can but your boots on at home and hit the slopes, easily.
