Reopening Visit Telluride Safely During COVID
States, counties, and communities are beginning to write guidelines and protocols to safely open with COVID-19. For Telluride and San Miguel county , they are trying to balance doing what’s right for the town residents, the visitors, and the businesses. And, it’s no easy feat.
COVID-19 is changing the landscape of our typical Telluride summer. So there are just a few things you need to know so you can have a safe and enjoyable visit.
Really, the best thing you can do is educate yourself.
Your town likely has different policies and procedures in place for dealing with COVID-19, so you’ll want to understand what’s happening locally, in Telluride and Mountain Village, in order to interact with our community in the correct manner…and stay safe.
Here’s the gist of it:
- Bring a mask — it’s required you wear one in public spaces — as you’re picking up take-out from restaurants, grabbing drinks at the liquor store, or while you’re shopping in retail stores. Any place where you can’t safely stay 6 feet away from another individual, you’ll have to wear a mask. So, pack a mask!
- Maintain social distancing — stay 6 feet away from other people — at all times, if you’re able. If you can’t, then please wear your mask.
- If you begin to exhibit symptoms, give the Telluride Medical Center a call. They’ll want to speak with you before potentially doing curbside testing, so please call before you attempt to walk-in for an appointment.
- Wash your hands, often. This helps prevent the spread of the virus should you come in contact with an infected, respiratory droplet.
