The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman was written in 1992 — at some point it caught fire and has made the The New York Times Best Seller list every year since 2009. According to Chapman, we all show (and feel love) in five specific ways: Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, and Physical Touch. And, that’s our love language. How you give and how you receive love may be different, and it may be different for your partner too. But, we all have a love language.

Here’s how to figure out your Valentine’s love language: Closely observe how your partner shows love, analyze what they complain about, and finally, create an inventory what they most often ask you for more of.
